Hi. I have 3 pink convicts. 2 female and 1 male. as i have 1 pair already and they have their fry with them [3 days old].

Pair Convicts with fry

I have separated the other female pink convict. Now this one has eggs and alone. I don't want to buy one male convict. can i put the male with her so they can spawn and the female convict can lay her eggs.

Now the female i am talking about was pair with the male but i separate him when i clean the tank. now he is with the other female. Is it ok to put him away from his pair and put him with the other female.

If this is not ok then can i put the alone convict with them?

hi, I'm kind of confused.

are you saying you have three convicts (one male and two females). both of the females have laid eggs and you want to know if you can use the same male to fertilize both the eggs from two different female?

yes and no, you see the way we see the fish is that they all look very similar. however, in the eye of the cichlid they can tell the difference between each fish. just like you and I telling each other apart. so if you remove the male from the pair and then stick him with the other female then you will run the risk of pairing up again, not until this is done will the male fertilise those eggs.

also there is a short period of time that those eggs are fertilizable, once they start to turn white then it's a no no, as those eggs are dying.

good luck and keep us update on your progress

thanks for the reply.

no only one female has eggs but not laid yet.
Now I doubt what should i do? she can not lay her eggs by herself without male.

there is no other fish in the tank and the tank is 190 litter.

waiting for your suggestion

congratulation :)

i think right now you should really getting ready for the frys. give it a month and you have lots of angry hungry swimming warriors in your tank!

first they eat and poo to the best of their ability then when they get about a inch long they will start doing battle with each other lol.

i used to breed lots and lots of convicts, what i did before was about a inch long i try to separate the males and females and then kept them in two different tank for each sex with no deco in both tank. this works much better then just keep both sex together, as they start to pair off and start digging pits lol

no just keep one pair and the other female alone. if u dont want the other female alone then just get another male. dont seperate the pair with fry.

I would do what wetsocks said and start worrying about the fry. Congrats!!
