ok i have heard to just add 3 tablespoons of aquarium salt/ rosck salt for every 1 gal to help reduce stress and help prevent disease. if you should do this how often do u do it, just when i do water changes and vacum the gravel or every week. pleace help me out im lost

Just remember salt does not evaporate or get filtered out, it is only removed with water changes...
3 tablespoons per gallon sounds like WAY too much....but I could be wrong.

Most I ever used is 3 tlb per 5g and that was for feeders in a bucket with an airstone

ya i did to maybe i read it wrong. does anyone know for sure how many tablespoons per gal to add to your tank.

1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. This is the concentration for disease prevention and stress reduction. Just make sure you replace it with water changes and only replace what you are taking out.

sweet thanks

One tablespoon per FIVE GALLONS for general maintainance, don't add more when topping off the tank, do add more when doing water changes but only enough to replace the ammount of water you removed.
2 TEASPOONS per gallon for treating ick and some types of bacterial and fungal ulcers.
3 TABLESPOONS of salt per GALLON is suitable only for disinfection dips for feeders and fish you can't quarantine, they are added to a bucket containing that concentration for no more than 10-15 minutes and are removed immediately if they show signs of distress, it will kill many fresh water fish in under an hour.
