G'day

Picked up 4 little 3 way hybrid pups the weekend just passed. 1m 3f

They are Mantilla X Motoro X Leopoldi

Will be fun to watch them morph in the next 12months.

Male is the light one in the pic. This was taken in the tub I transported them in, will take some in tank pics soon.

nice. Post some pics once you get them in your tank.

what is the percent mix? i.e. father mantilla/leo mother motoro? Just wondering because I wouldn't have guessed leo in the mix based on the picture.

Nice rays though

I thought that aswell, those rays look great though!

They are only very young pups. ~1month old, hybrids especially with the Mantilla gene morph a lot as they develop.

They are 50% Mantilla 25% Leo 25% Motoro

The lighter one is particularly nice!
I hear its difficult in your country to get any rays at all, I suppose that's one way of doing it, get 3 in one...lol!
Congratulations on getting yourself a trio, hopefully in 3 years time you will be able to help fulfill the needs of some of your fellow aquarists.

Aquaman - Thanks mate. Rays are still pretty expensive in Australia. Although the Ray scene is quickly evolving. We have Leos, BD's, Motoro and Mantilla and every hybrid in between.

I was breeding Motoros a couple years back and did very well. But was looking to experiment with producing different patterns and outcomes this time, so went down the hybrid path. Should be interesting to see how long these take to reproduce. My previous Motoros banged out their first set of pups, at ~14months of age. I separated the male out after that to give the girls a chance to grow and mature a bit more before the male turned them into puppy mills!
