I'm wanting to tear down one of my 20 longs and put a 30 in its place (the 36" size, not the tall one), but I don't have a stand that fits the 30. The 20 is actually on TV stand that fits it perfectly, and I'm hoping to put the 30 on the same stand. The stand will support it with no question, but will the 30 be OK with a few inches hanging off each end, or will it crack? I know I've seen tanks all the way up to 55 gallons with their ends hanging off their stands, but I want to make sure this will be safe enough before I do it- I definitely don't want this tank to crack and leak water all over the living room.

Thanks!

i would say its not with the risk. although 30G isn't that much compared to most peoples tanks here. 30G of water is still alot of water, and its really heavy and would put ALOT of pressure on the tank.

1G of water = 8.35lbs
therefore 30G of water = 250.5lbs

thats alot of pressure if theres over hang!
