The 30 gal tank is currently cycling. (Still waiting for the heater to be delivered)

Excuse the cloudy water, I just added the gravel.
Also, those are reflections of my goldfish (there are no fish in the tank yet)

Thanks for the suggestions and help! It's greatly appreciated! Im obviously going to start with a few fish at a time, but My stocking plan is to start with 3 platys and a gourami (either a honey or dwarf)

Then after a while I'll add a few Cory's, then a few more until I have about 6 or 7. Then about 8 or 10 neons, and 5 to 7 zebra danios. (Introducing them to the tank 3 or 4 at a time)

Looking good! How are you cycling the tank?

Do you have an aquarium test kit so you can check the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels, if so what brand and type test kit do you or will you have?

I just put some Safe Start in the tank. I'm planning of picking up some test strips in a day or so. Not sure which brand yet.

Do I need to get a kit specifically designed for fish?

Yes a test kit specifically for freshwater aquarium use. I like to use the API Master test kit as it contains the test tubes and reagents for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

I don't have a recommendation for test strips though some people like to use them. Most do NOT test for ammonia which is a big deal so you would need to buy a separate test strip for that parameter.

Thanks! I probably won't be able to get a master test kit at the moment. But I did find some test strips online that test for ammonia.
