I recently got a 90 gallon megaflow for my cichlids and now I have a 30 gallon at my disposal. I was contemplating a congo puffer but I want more then just one fish in a 30 gallon. Any suggestions on tank mates and if none then maybe suggestions on stocking the 30 gallon. I wouldn't mind some puffers of some sort.

snap the claws off some crayfish, toss in, enjoy. I know the puffer will love destroying the crays.

Congos are ambush predators, they'll disembowel or eat any other fish you keep with him, so keep alone.

If you wanted to try out a few puffers in a 30 though, you can either go dwarfs (which are pretty aggressive in their own right) or SAP's. There are a few other options too, but they're the ones which are usually most available.

But honestly, I keep a single fangs puffer in a 15, and a single fahaka in a 150, and they aren't boring fish at all. Especially during feeding time.
