No expert but I seem to remember some threads on repairs before, my memory is not the best but I think they drained it, and then used the fine surengy with the jb weld compound to re bind the seam.
Do not use jb weld no matter what do not. First off where is the leak at on the tank. Do you have a pic. I can help you out solving the problem as I have done it before. How thick is the acrylic. Take a pic of the spot if you can.

There are a few small leaks in the seams someone recommended using weld on 3 then getting some acrylic strips and using weld on to place them over the seals to give it a better seal. Any other advice?
Anytime you have a leak I like to make sure I have two layers of protection to do a repair. First get 3/8" square stock and use weld 16. Do not use the thin stuff as it will not seal as easy. Place these on the inside of the tank to cover up the spot where it leaks go over at least 6 inches further than the leak spot to make sure you have it covered really well. That is stage one. Next get some thin pieces 1/8th" by 1inch tall to go on the out side of the tank. Place these so they cover the seam on the outside of the tank. This will make sure you have a great seal. Use the same weld 16. You can hold the piece on with your hands hold for 10min at that point it will be sealed really well. Ask me for more help or if you need more info on how to do it and I will help you 100%
