I have the opportunity to buy a used 300 gallon tank. It was used to hold plants for purchase at an upscale aquarium store. The top has 2 openings. The top has a crack from the corner of opening to almost the corner of tank but stops about an inch before the corner. The guy selling it to me, worked there. He says it can be repaired buy using 2 pieces of acrylic. One will be secured on top of the crack and the other under the crack. He wanted to cut off the center overflow and put 2 overflow boxes on back drilling through the tank. I am terrified that this is too much stress on the tank since it was originally pre-drilled. It has a sump already. I think I am willingly to put up with the center overflow since the fish can swim around the tank because of overflow placement. What do you think about the crack and the overflow placement?
