300 gallon Amazon Biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i did have one with some silver dollars, 9 inch hornet cichlid, 9 inch oscars a 13 inch rtc and a 13 inch pacu. sadly it passes away recently. didn't bother anyone. it was about 20 inches
Wait a minute here, you had a jardini with 13” rtc and 13” pacu, ok yeah, in what size tank ? Folks are saying they are agressive if not enough space, you said the same and a 300 I would suggest (and hope with those fish) is much smaller than you have.

If we are heading bigger tank then you will undoubtably head to bigger fish, but if we stick with the current parrot, Oscar, blochii types then there are other pims, the odd hemibagrus , girraffes, armoured cats (quite a few), Clarias (depending where you live) Lima shovelnose, even in groups, ……….. the list goes on and on. Pretty much depends what u like, where I live and what u can get hold of. Easier to tell you if something won’t work when u figure what u want.

If i get the jardini, it will be the largest at adult size, the other fish will all be max 20 inches
they will be in a 360 gallon

as far as catfish, i like pimelodus but they are not commonly available where i live, only blochii and pictus. i could also get more blochii and then have a school of 5 to 6. lima could also work
any catfish that are predatory like perruno and bolt but will not get big enough to eat a blochii?

Bolt are a good choice although if you can’t get hold of other pims I will be suprised if you can get bolt cats.
Worth noting too that generally multiple blochii ime wont work in 360g. My blochii want a good 3ft x 3ft patch of the pond to call their own and the 5 blochii /macculatus squabble constantly over these areas. As they age they become quite territorial, as do Pictus but their size allows it to work in that sized tank.

Getting hold of actual perruno cats is practically impossible and achara cats would get too large. Some might say a vulture cat would work but again ime they are too big and too active and overnight might just decide to remove parts of a few others.

i would stick with one blochii then, i have access to real perruno, just expensive because they are imported

You can keep Silver arowanas in 300 gallons; they need a minimum tank of 250 gallons for full-grown adults. If you have 300, you have space for one arowana and other fish. Maybe stingrays and arowanas? It's always a winning setup.
Terrible advice
