Whats up! Im setting up a three hundred gallon! What I wanted to know is what would be the best element to add to speed up the process? Should I add Gravel? Water? or Would the filters from my previous setup be enough to give the process a little kick? Thanks!

If you add filters from other tanks and the tank is empty all the bacteria will die. Just use used filters and put goldfish in the tank, and stuff the heck out of 'em. Get them producing maximum amounts of ammonia so the tank can handle whatever you're gonna put in it later.

The best way to do it is buy market prawn/shrimp put them in a sock/holder like a panty hose tie it and throw it in the tank with a filter running. As the shrimp decays it produces huge amounts of ammonia to kick start the cycle.

I would not recommend using goldfish, since once its done there is nothing to do with em but throw them away which is :(.

You could add a filter form an existing set up and when you do a water change you can add some of that water into the tank to help get some bacteria in there(although don't add all the crap you siphoned out just the water :|)

If you have other tanks when you clean and rinse the filter materials. Just dump that murky water into the 300g. Thiers BB in there.
