Hi everyone,

i’m moving fish around working on a final stocking for a 96” x 30” x 24” tall.

i‘m thinking of the following.

clown knife
african arowana
datnoid
endli x2
congo
teugelsi
laperadi
ornate

maybe silver arowana

I have a large sumps and auto water changer so its more about space than the water parameters. Thank you!

You're going to need a larger tank than that for a clown knife, silver arowana, and African arowana. They all reach sizes between 70-100 cm, meaning a 244 cm long and 61 cm wide 1,135 liter would not allow them to adequately turn around, nor give them much horizontal swimming space.

I know very little on the specifics of the rest, but in terms of size, they should be ok as long as they're <40 cm.

I agree that the tank is too small, espec if they are ALL in the same tank. The majority of those fish will reach upwards of 2', and the tank is only 8', even smaller in width and height. However, I do believe those fish would all get along.

For SuperNinja, a good rule of thumb is that a tank should be at least 6 times as long and 1.5 times as wide as the largest fish (from Practical Fishkeeping and Seriously Fish).
That means with, say, the clown knife, you're looking at a 6x1.5 meter footprinted tank.

AqAdvisor is also a useful tool.

Stock seems more than fine to me for many yrs with the autodrips and wide footprint… people need to realise these fish take a long time to reach 18” even let alone 2’…no bichir will ever outgrow that space…the afro will grow extremly slow and i have 8 yr old ck’s that are a mere 16”… knix the silver aro, maybe try a black instead it will stay smaller/grow slower.

The tank is 30” wide… the chances of any of these fish reaching that size in 10+yrs even is extremly slim. This stock is pretty “respectable” for that footprint IMO… have u kept any of these species or seen an actual measurement of a 10-15yr old specimen in captivity?

My bad, I thought it was the usual 1,135 liter of 61 cm wide and 76 cm tall.

I have never had any of these fish, but nor did I ever say they'd outgrow it immediately. There should be nothing preventing a fish from growing to full size in captivity if it has enough space and proper all around care, so the arowanas and knife would eventually need a bigger tank even if they'd be fine for a time

U drive a tough bargain my man ??… its a feat in itself to keep anything alive for 10yrs even in optimal conditions. Things happen out of our control. Power outages, equipment failures, water supply changes etc. Using wild caught/world record maxium sizes as the “ultimate” reference for captive fish is just unrealistic. Those fish sizes would be 15-25yrs old at best…Even their wild counter parts will most likely never make it anywhere near those sizes in that time.

Having seen a few videos of Arowana, Yes they do get quite large. Multiple in one tank HRM... They are also very delicate as many do not have successful long term life spans in captivity. Youtube, shows quite a few Asian markets displaying these awesome monster fish. And wow are they huge. lol
