Hey all. I recently got a stock tank and I'm wondering what I should do for a filter. Would a canister filter work with these? I've always used power filters on my tanks but the Rubbermaid tanks are to wide for any type of HOB filter. Ive never used a canister filter so I'd hate to get one and not be able to use it. All help is appreciated.

A canister filter would work, but it would have to be a very large one. Better off going with a pond filter. Lots to choose from.

How would a canister filter work when they are gravity-based? Without the canister being appropriately placed on a lower level than the water, it will not suction and pump correctly. We would need more details about the actual pond itself to say whether or not it would work, like "Is it IN-ground or above?" for starters.

I concur, a pond filter would work much better and be a LOT cheaper probably too

Thanks to both of y'all for the reply. It is a above ground pond in my garage and I'll look into the pond filters. I looked at those before but honestly didn't think they would do anywhere near the job a canister or any type of aquarium filter would do.
