I've decided to set up one of the 300-gallon Rubbermaid tubs as an indoor freshwater pond. I already have the tub and I already have a Tidepool II and Magnum 350 pro system filter. Is this going to be enough filtration for some pacus and a red tail cat or do I need to up it a little? If so, what can you recommend I get to enhance my filtration??

To answer your question, I would increase the filtration.

I agree...I would think you would be doing A LOT of water changes. You figure the Tidepool II handles up to 600 gph...that would give you a turnover of 2 times an hour and about 3 times an hour with the addition of the 350.

Depending on what turnover rate your shooting for, lets say 6 times and hour, you would want to be moving roughly 1800 gph. You could get something like a Pondmaster pump that would move up to 1800 gph as long as the head height is under 1'. You would have to build some sort of wet dry/sump for it to pump to though.

Have you looked into any small pool filters that you can control the flow rate? You may be better off doing something like that, that way when you upgrade from the 300 you have a filter that would work.

Best of luck...I would love to see it when it's set up.
