Im setting up a 300 gallon tank and i need some help on what type of heaters to put in and what type of filtration to use and any advise would help . Thanks I am setting up the tank for peacocks and arownas.

RENAsmart heaters are good they dont get hot to the touch so u wont have to worry bout ur fish burning themselves and they are pretty accurate too.. but if you use a sump for filtration (which would prob. be ur best option) then putting ur heater(s) in the sump will be better.

There are a number of wetdry setups on the market that will likely suit your needs. Look here http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pet_supplies.cfm?c=3578+3579+3587.

You could also try inline filters..I have used this brand before and it worked quite well. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+8755+3662&pcatid=3662

But if you are willing to do a bit of manual labor your could make the sump yourself. Someone mentioned that you could use an aquarium and indeed you could. But you could also use a large rubermaid container or even a large plastic garbage can. For example if you used a rubermaid container, you would need to divide it into sections. One section for carbon, one for bioballs and another section for the pump that would return the water to the tank. You could divide the sections of the sump with fiberglass and drill holes in it to allow the water to flow from section to section.
