I just bought a small silver arowana and he might be small now but not for long, I was thinking about bigger aquariums and I was thinking affordable and alot of surface area considering arowana just swim at the top and the the idea of a stock tank popped into my head, 300 gallons, alot of surface, can be covered with netting (ones used to stop birds and raccoons from eating fish at a hatchery) and 2 fluval fx6's with a big heater and shop light hanging over the top, Im not sure if it's possible or if anyone has done it just a thought

Quite a few people have done it on here. I say go for it but be really careful of jumping. Also the high surface area means a ton of evaporation so take that into mind.

I was thinking a plexiglass lid instead of the screen to help keep evaporation down and to help with the heating of the tank

Be sure you check all dimensions before buying, if its going in a basement. I picked one up, it easily fit thru the outside door, but it would not fit thru the space where the basement floor and stairs and its doorway entered the basement. I ended up keeping it outside for cool water fish.

Good idea, I'll have to take the measurements of the bilco door to the basement if that doesn't work the threw mthe kitchen down the steps
