Hi guys I have decided that i am going to buy a 300 gallon aquarium,
Do any of you know any good brands that would be a good sump that could over filtrate the tank.
Thx

Buy a 120g measure the insides for baffles, go to your local glass shop get glass cut , go to Walmart/Home Depot buy GE Silicone 1 windows, silicone and add baffles. Best sump for the best price and exactly how you want it

You don’t even need baffles, you can just run an open sump with filter socks for mechanical filtration. Just put your media in the sump and a powerhead or two so that you get good contact time with it and you’re set. I do think bigger is better but I think a 90 gallon tank is plenty for the sump.

+1 socks, media and pumps. Simple and effective

I have a sump 60x30x30 for sale I have to text you pictures of it. My name is shon my cell number is 310 663-5621

I use a 75 gal tank as a sump for about 300 gallons in tanks, I don't use baffles (to me they get in the way of maintenance) and are restrictive to being creative. I use media submerged in bags.
The thing is a sump in itself, is not a filter, its just a box to put filtration media, and equipment you don't want inside in your main show tank.
I hang filter socks on the fluent pipes to the sump, and pack it full of bio media.

I also fill it with lots of other stuff (anything that will grow bio-film)that can be used to jump start cycles on other tanks, and grow out fry in them. There are no rules as to what can do, or where to place them (in another room, on another floor) as long as you obey the law of gravity.

I have used a pond as a sump, and I know an aquarist the puts his sumps in a basement to keep the water on the 1st floor cooler, anything is possible.
