300 Gallon tank filteraton?

I'm going to build a 300 gallon tank in about 9 months, waiting to move so I have more room.

I want to make a DIY sump but I can't find good pictures of one or alot of detail on dimentions of compartments.

How do I setup a sump for that big of tank?
How big should the sump be?

Any advice and pictures or sites will help.
