So long story short the intrax paint and the silicone hate each other and will not bond right. Also the paint seems to randomly not bond to the fiberglass. I think the solution is to sand the fiber glass and silicone the glass to that then. Sand and repaint the chipped areas around the glass.

What do you guys think?

For some reason your signature is not showing up.

So this is a fiberglass tank you're trying to seal a piece of glass to? And you painted the fiberglass with paint?

If so I would sand the paint off down to the fiberglass in the area where the viewing panel will be attached. Then wipe the area down with some sort of solvent. Denatured alcohol would be my first choice since it leaves the least residue behind.

I'm going to re-boot my laptop and see if I can get your signature to show up.

Thank you very much for your reply I agree will start on it tonight and reinstall the glass friday night.

Oh i ment the link in my SIG. Sorry im tired the baby was up early this morning. And it was my turn to get up with him.

Got your sig to work and I read pages 6-8.

My only questions is what is the white layer that was present before applying the blue paint? Is that what the cured resin looked like in your pictures?

If so just sand that to that layer and then sand that layer itself. Then wipe down with acetone which I see you already have. Once acetone is fully evaporated then you should get a good bond between silicone and the polyester.

I bought white and blue of the pool paint after reading reviews of it I found out the companys statement that it aplied in 2 mill coats on a vertical surface was major BS. 1mill was more like it on may review. With the white and blue i was able to alternate back and forth to know i had atleast 6 mill the picks in the thread are actually the last 2 coats out of 6. Also the company warned me that the product was un tested on fiberglass and warned me to scuff the fidergalss. I did scuff it but was very tired when i did the area around the glass. So I must have missed a spot in the lower corner. Causeing it to chip out

Okay. Got it. I would sand or strip all white & blue layers of paint down to bare resin. Then scuff sand the bare resin & wipe down with acetone. Again, you only need to do this in area where window overlaps the frame.

I can't make any promises but this should work. Just be diligent, take your time, etc.
