Dovii can be monsters and may end up as your solo fish if you go that route. That being said, depending on your dimensions, a 300 might not even be big enough for life for a dovii

Female maybe.but even in a 300 a dovii may decide it wants the tank to itself.you could try but just watch for aggression and be prepared to pull fish. What fish we talking in specific?

Really? A well kept male almost always hits over 24" and can get closer to 28"-30". A standard 300g is 30" wide. If he said its a marineland 300DD then yes it would likely be enough for a single dovii.
