Hey, I have a 300 gallon, 96x30x25. I recently had to get rid of my clown knife fish as it was attacking my silverdollars. Im looking for a fish to replace it.

Current stock:
1 Bolt catfish (10”)
1 Four line pim (5-6”)
1 synodontis Angelicus (4-5”)
1 Bushynose pleceo (4-5”)
4 severums all around (5”)
6 Silver dollars (3.5-4”)
2 Geo abalios (4”)
4 Geo Red head Tapajos (3.5”) these are currently in my 90 gallon until they get a little bigger!

Water P’s: 0/0/ nitrates stay between 20-40, Temp: 80, PH: 7.6. High GH and Low KH

It’s a fine rock substrate, driftwood and fake plants.

Filtration: 2 fx6’s, 2 API XP XL canisters, and two 2 large sponge filters ran by air pumps..

Can you guys help me out with some ideas and what you think about adding any of the fish mentioned below? Looking for a showpiece larger fish that is compatible with my current fish and current water p’s. I don’t want any more cichlids. Something oddball or another catfish is what I’m looking at getting.

Fish I’m considering:
- Fire Eel
- Lima Shovelnose Catfish
- Datnoid
- Stingray ( Hystricx or reticulated)
- Arowana or Jardini
- Any others?

Thanks!

Rays. Go to Bronsons and have him get you a Hystrix. Just show him a picture of the Ray you want.

Just know the pleco might be eaten.

Yeah I really want a ray but know nothing about keeping them and have read some that they are tough to keep. Do you have and reading material to recommend on keeping rays?

Get a Pimelodus ornatus.

Yeah I've looked at those, they are beautiful! Might be hard to find a 5"+

Increase the size of your Geo shoals.

Yeah I love my Geos but i dont want any more cichlids

I vote fire eel, but I'm partial to them as they are my favorite. Next choice would be ray.

Yeah im thinking fire Eel too. Do they hide all day or do they come out and about some?

They're not hard if you can keep the water clean and stable.

Look at the stickies In the Ray sub form.

I have two fire eels that are only at about 6" long. They usually hide more during the day but in the evening they are out all over the place. When I feed them they will clean up every little bit of food.
