Gday from aus.
Ive recently converted an inground pool.7m ×3m....1.5m at shallow end...about 2.4 àt deep end.
Currently i have about 5 different varieties of plants...mainly surface.some mid...lillies...hyacinth. ..duck weed...plus....
All is healthy with plants reproducing and a wild amount of insect life.Swordtails, platies, rosy barbs are multiplying.I live in a sub tropical area on east coast of aus.I havnt found any need for filtration or aeration. Obviously these fish will be a food source.
We have Saratoga here that are local to the conditions here.Im hoping to introduce a toga as the main predator. Also thinking i may be able to stock a fair family of cichlids.don the snorkel and build a little town 2×2m town for them.
Im after any logistics, info, type of fish, what oxygenator mid depth plants i might use.or a push in the direction of similar setups on this forum.
Cheers

Since your pool is pretty deep, it might be a good idea to have a few powerheads attached to sponge filters.. Point the powerheads up to help circulate water and bring more oxygen near the bottom fo the tank.. I have a few 100 gallon tubs that I do that with. I do not know if it is necessary on a pond your size.
With something that large, you could probably put just about anything you want in it..

1) I would try to figure out how to treat infections, algae blooms and potential temperature problems (too hot, too cold.)

2) I don't see how you will see the bottom. That means that a large dead fish at the bottom is simply going to rot. Maybe, I'd install a few cheap underwater cameras. Actually, I'd want that anyway to see the fish deep under the surface.

3) Birds. How will you prevent nature from poaching? And birds bring unwanted organisms along with their appetites.

4) Safety of course. Keep people out, since unlike a pool, it may disorient any person that somehow falls in.

5) I assume you know the zoning requirements or lack thereof....

6) What filtration are you going to use?

7) What are your water change plans?

Otherwise, I'm excited for you. Good luck and enjoy.

Algae is only a problem after a few days of rain...with the plants i have water clarity returns in a couple of days.yep can see the bottom

No problem with birds pilfering as there is plenty of depth and plants.has a pool fence(council regulations).due to volume the temp does vary but after a 13° night and 4 cloudy rainy days it dropped 1/2 a degree to 21°.
Temps this low are rare here...maybe for about a month but still have 25 degree days.
Rainwater is my water change. As it is very lightly stocked im trying for a self sustaining eco system.Hence my question on some mid water (oxygenator)plants.
Possibly im going to set up one pump at bottom of deep end and pump it up to 2 growbeds.Aquaponics.These systems can sustain a heavily stocked 800l pond and do all the amonia, nitrate, nitrite conversions. And the vegies grow exponentially.
Any leads to posts of similar setups here.Or anyone else snorkel in their tank?

Saratoga are native to this area.So temperature is not an issue. All the other fish introdu ed are breeding and loving it.Algae is a food source for some and are a natural part of the ecosystem.I would think healthy.
