I'm not sure because it had a center overflow. I don't mean back center. I mean dead center coming up from the bottom pane. The overflow is a 6" rectangle so that leaves me with 9" between the front and back panes in the center. Could I keep 2 of the smaller spieces?

well you just shouldnt have anything bigger than 7-8inch disk. think of it as two 48inch tanks. floor space is key!

the smallest FW rays that I have found get a 12" disc diameter. Does this mean I can't keep them for life. Or am I not looking hard enough?

well.. you could always get any ray.. and sell it when it out grows your tank.. or better yet.. get a bigger tank. try out a motoro to start. great strong ray.. or if ya can find one.. try a histrix, as they stay smaller.

why not just get a bigger tank?? thats what i did.. i had only onbe 55gallon tank.. now i have lots! works great.. and your wife will love it!!
