Hello I just recently bought a 300G glass tank 8'X2'X2' andi was wondering what would be the best filtration system. I want to put sand and overflows (already drilled) and a nice sump filter, must have current (for my AGTF.)

Also how long would a 10lb co2 tank last onthat with plants.

open to any and all suggestion for providing a jaw dropping aquarium.

I'm sry to tell u but that's not a 300 gallon, it's a 240 gallon

It is a 240, but in my opinion better than the taller 300(8x2x30"). I have a 240 drilled w overflows just like yours. I have an eshopps sump w a rio 26hf return pump that gives the tank around a 6x turnover rate. For extra flow in the tank I have 2 1400gph koralias of which I normally only keep one running. I have plenty of big messy fish and my water is crystal clear w proper water changes

I agree with that my 4' tall tank is big but its really like having a 240. What size overflows are you running? I have 2 knock off koralias "sunsun" that each do 1300gph in my 220 and I wish I had just one more in there. I can keep all bot one section of the tank clean with these two powerheads, but A third would be spotless.

When I ran a sump on 220 I only pushed about 600gph or so through the sump and never had problems. The only times I had problems was when first adding drip system, and when I hadn't vacuumed my sump in about 1 year.

oh well i guess i lost out on 60G oh well, thanks for the help ill be looking up that koralias system right away.

(240G wont be set up till atleast june because its going on the upstairs of the house and i need to rip out the old rug and put in tile as well as re-brace the floor for good measure. thats why id like anyhints or tips on this tank beacuase its all new to me and id like to only do things once...twice if it can be improved on. Also if anyone could give me a materials/cost of building 4,000G tank, glass or acrylic? how to and so on. i was also quite captivated by a corner tank at big al's fish store the main focal point of the tank had soooo much depth to it because of the oval to point corner style. it literally felt like i was in the tank.

I'm building a 300 and will be running a 75 gallon sump with a reeflo super dart. 1 1/2" drains 1" returns. 7" filter socks and about 10l of pond matrix for bio. I should be around 8-10 turns an hour

I also plan on running 2 koralias for water movement at the bottom of the tank.

alot of products and slang are still latin to me but im tryin, you mentioned your drain and return are different sizes is that to help it kick out the return with more pressure? i dont know what sizes mine are drilled to (was done when bought tank, used) but they are the same size come to think of it... it may be a 1 1/2' holes.ill check tonight.

I'm not sure about additional pressure but I've chosen the drain size based on the output of my pump. The pump has a 1 1/2" output that I'll split into 2 1" lines on either side of the tank. If I'm pushing 2800-3000 gph the drains would need to be able to handle at least half of this ( since there will be 2 mains and 2 emergencies). Mains will be full siphon drains with gates valves( Herbie style) on them so I can dial in the drain flow accordingly.

I must admit, I'm terrible with the math on these things but I got most of my info on the site and on reefcentral. There is a sicky here that provided most of the info I needed.....

Hopefully some of the experts will chime in to explain the math involved with the relationship between the returns and drains. I'm sort of following their advice for my build
