So i bought this 30g with wood stand and fish and everything all set up ready to go for 25 bucks.

black wood stand
30g bow front
light
crap walmart filter (added my own aqua clear plus the old one figured it couldnt hurt.)
green black gravel
some decorations 1 castle-ish thing 1 skull thing too small for a shell dweller i swear

fish

1 pleco 7.5 inches
1 gt 6 inches
1 gt 4 inches
1 tinfoil barb 4ish inches

So i went and picked up the tank filled a cooler and a bucket with water and fish. took the tank home set it up and filled it about half way with old water halfway with water i had setting in buckets for a day and a half or so to let the chlorine evaporate out. took the pleco out and gave him a new home in a 110 which need a nice algea eater and he definatley needed some extra space. left the other three fish. Im eventually going to give the gt's some larger breathin room and the tinfoil barb as much as i like him is getting the boot to the local spca's tank (300g)

im not a big fan of the whole green and black 2 decorations thing so im giving them a upgrade tomorrow finally. have had the tank a while but wasnt sure what i was goin to do but for now i can at least give the tank a better look something more natural for the gt's and then when i move them i can take some of the great advice i got from people here and not have to do much to put in the new fish.

uploaded some vids to youtube you guys can check out it doesnt look like much now but later today im goin to head to the lfs and pick up some rock and new gravel clean it all up clean the algea problem i seem to be having up and redecorating.

also considering a snail or 2 to help aid in the removal of algea.

update later today hope it comes out as nice as i hope.

theres a video of the tank back a bit and some of the fish up close.

im off to bed getting up going to check cl for some tanks and off to do some fish shopping.

updates tomorrow afternoon.

I cant tell if the smaller one is a male or not. They havnt paired up yet the last time she laid eggs she didnt take to kindly to the other. I assume this is either because the other is a female or hasnt hit sexual maturity yet.

BUT!!!

update as i was carousing my way through pet smart for some small items i needed..(local store was closed so i took what i could get)

my girlfriend said "why dont you just go buy the bigger tank you wanted"

:) :) :) :)

so im getting a 55.

I went and got some algea scrapers and a magnet cleaned up the tank added some air to it did a filter cleaning on 1 filter the other filter i left to give the other one time to build back up some bacteria then i will do the other.

so today i got the following

New substrate (Enough for the 55 when i get it but am going to put some of it in the 30 to pick up some bacteria so i have an easier change over next week,)

air pump

algea tools big enough for 55g

some snails to take care of decorations which i put back in the tank for the time being to hold down the air lines.

gave the tinfoil barb to a smaller pet store in the mall who i have bought some nice fish from before.

cleaned the outside of the tank

now im just looking for a 55g

i may just go buy one at a lfs and spend the extra money for it new however i feel that kinda is over kill because i dont need the plastics to be clean because i am boxing it into a counter and u wont see any of it.

the tank will be able to be seen from my Kitchen/dining are aaaand from the living room. Gonna be see through.

im buying a canister filter and hiding it under the sink running the hoses the 3.5 ft and dilling in the side so nothing can be seen. It will appear that the tank is nothing but fish so no odd hoses and pipes haning around.

also im curious to know what you guys thing about putting a piece of pvc with holes all down it the entire length of the tank rather then putting filtered water right back into the tank next to the filter intake?

also i think it would circulate the tank better giving a bit of a water flow feel making it feel more river like for the gt's?

ne ways pics will be up as soon as i change out the substrate

cant wait im excited gonna have another decent sized tank finally

edit

also picked up some blood worms for some extra nutrition and hopefully color for my gt's

hikari brand also i use some hikari brand cichlid pellets which they seem to eat just fine.

yeah ill be busy and then once im done it will be at eye lvl for my daughter so ill be busy cleaning her face print off it lol

she loves the tank

be starting my mini construction project soon ill post pics throughout

not much compared to some but im excited

May be doing better then that

on my hunt for a 55 on cl i found a 90

only problem is its drilled in the bottom :( any ideas on what to do about that?
