Since you are in South Africa you may be able to find some of the Raiamas species, they are pretty much unfindable in the USA.
Here are 3, the 7" Coppernose Barb (Raiamas christyi) pic by G.Ott,
the 8" Lake Rukwa Minnow (R. moorii) pic by L.Seegars, and the 9" Silver Fish (R. senengalensis) pic by K.Mody. These are not viscious but are attractive small predators that are active feeders and act much like trout but are suitable for tropical tanks.
Another fish that comes to mind is actually from South Africa, again not viscious but a nice small predator that feeds much like an American bluegill, it is a bit territorial though so a male/female pair would be all that would go in a 30g. That is the 8" Cape Kurper (Sandelia capensis) pic by J.A.Cambray.

Those are pretty to look at, Guppy.:hearts:

I have wanted some of the coppernose for a long time but did not have the money the one time I saw them for sale.

I like the Mbuna Cichlid suggestion, how many of them will I be able to keep there?
