I have an empty 30gal long tank and is thinking about have mini monster fish to just wow my guys. However im having trouble to choose few species (either schooling fish or solo fish or even community fish). Here the fish Im really interesting into but Im open to any fish.

Pike livebearers
Wimple piranha
Redfin piranha (pristobrycons)
Mud sunfish
Exodons
Brown Hoplo

No cichlids (unless its predatory and toothy) and no bichirs.

One or two Longears or Pumpkinseeds, depending on aggression, would be a stunning specimen tank setup.

Or go tropical and keep two or three small species of pleco.

--edit: You want predators, huh? Try a Purple-spotted Gudgeon. Mogurnda Adspersa or Mogurnda Mogurnda get just big enough to max that tank out at around eight inches, and they love live food but eat anything. Some reports list the top length differently, and there are many look-alikes around, so be careful.

I already have 15gal tank set up for my marmorkrebs so no crayfish. Longears look like native version of Flowerhorn so i will think about the longears but Pumpkinseed are too big for my tank as they can get 12 inch long easily (well in my areas).

Yeah it would be cool to have smaller piranhas but i really like that redfin piranha and wimple piranha because of their looks. However I had trouble to choose which species to put into 30gal.

Blackbanded Chaetodon Sunfish
Um I'm not interesting into these chaetodon because they are not hardy and very senstive to the water quality and required special water to survive. And they are too small for 30gal lol as these chaetodon can live in 10gal for their whole lives.

Now anyone know how cost for wimple piranha and Pristobrycon maculipinnis (aka redfin piranha)? I really like that maculipinnis's coloration lots but then I have trouble to choose one over another species.
