Hey everyone,

So I recently decided to try my hand at adding some plant filtration to the 315 gallon. Everyone seemed to say that pothos plants were a good bet to helping rid that pesky nitrate, so a sheet of egg crate and one plant from Home Depot later and I've got this set up now. I've got some big waste producers so the plants seem to just explode in growth.

Normally after about a week my nitrates would be hovering around 20-25ppm, and now it's been about 3 weeks since I've set the system up and they're sitting at about 10ppm. Plus with the roots all along the surface it gives my arowana something to do with his time now. I really don't get why this isn't more popular. I would definitely recommend this to everyone as it really does help.

I'm looking to do this in my new gar tank. I figured it would look pretty cool having them hover in the roots. So you just layed egg crate on top and stuck the plants into it?

I want to do this in my 340gallon but am seriously scared my gar will be on the floor or my pbass. But I do jave pothos in my overflows.

Im surprised your silver dollars (red hooks? hard to tell) don't eat the pothos. I've added pothos in the past and they are gone in a matter of hours.

I have been working on it it's about 380g. Needs lots of sanding. Right now I have 3 tropicals and 4 floridas mites between my 750 and 315 I'm gonna put them all in one tank
