Hey guys, I just put a deposit down on a custom acrylic tank, 62x42x30. Wondering what the best way to do overflows would be on this tank. I've never done a sump system before. What would you guys use on this? I'm thinking I need to be able to flow at least 1200gph. I plan to use a 75g tank as a sump. I was looking at the custom aquariums stealthbox, but I don't know if that is the best route. If you have any recommendations on the hardware, overflow/ pumps/ design, please let me know.

Right now I have another 180g acrylic tank running 2x Ac 110's and a fx6, time to join the big boy club. It will be a SA cichlid tank.

I have an internal overflow box with a 1 1/2" HERBIE SETUP. I am intrigued by external overflows as the internal one takes up room. Otherwise it's a clean setup.
I guess it depends on how you are locating the tank also. The stealthbox has valve controls at the box. I like having the valve control under the tank and hidden.
Also, I like having a separate dedicated piped (no valve) overflow in case the main gets clogged.
As far as flow, I am no expert. But I have a 235 gallon tank with 1 1/2" piping. Other's with more experience should chime in. Maybe you should have 2" piping?
BTW, what kind of fish are you planning to keep? Wondering why you didn't go with a longer tank.

It's for a specific wall in the house. Kind of a peninsula that juts out into the middle of the room. I don't really have space to go longer. But taller and extra deep worked out well. Opening on my sliding glass door is 44" so I will barely be able to squeeze it in the house.

It will be a south american tank. 1-1/2" pipe seems to be sufficient. I'm just trying to figure out what overflow box would be best. There seems to be many options.

Have them drill the tank or drill it urself… no need for an overflow box, IMO they just take up tank space. I drill my tanks in the top back corners or side for peninsula style. Personally id go with 2 holes for 2” pvc, will be plenty flow that way. Can run ur return lines up over the top or drill them into the back or side also.
