I just set up my 33 gallon (36"L x 12"W x 18"H) for saltwater. I am running it with a tetra whisper HOB rated for 45 gallons and a C80 mini-canister. With these 2 filters, plus 20lbs. of crushed coral and about 10-15 lbs. of live rock, I should be alright, right? I only plan to have a clownfish or 2 and possibly 3-5 blue chromis? Any experts see a problem with this combo? I am a complete SW noob, so please hook it up with suggestions. PS - Anyone ever use a mini-protein skimmer? like the Rio nano-skimmer? and if so, think it'll be good enough for my current requirements?

thank you. Just throwin out mass amounts of info, better chances of a good response

i used the rio nano skimmer. worked surprisingly well for the price. i had it on a 5 gallon with 2 clowns and a buncha corals. didnt have to empty the cup out alot but it pulled some nasty stuff out. u should be good with it. i actually just bought a eshopps 75h online yesterday. i dont think the rio woulda cut it on my 75 i set up. lol. add some more rock tho.

rio skimmer is junk went through 5 of them and never would touch them again. You probably don't even need a skimmer if you don't want to have much fish like only 4 then your bio-load will be okay BUT I still would do bi-weekly water changes to make up for no skimmer. Also allow your tank proper time to seattle before you add anything living to it excluding the rock and sand.
