Hey, everyone.

I have recently had a tank become free, measuring 33" long, 18" deep, and 22" tall. I was looking to stock this with cichlids, maybe clown loaches too.

Is this tank a suitable size for cichlids and clown loaches? And if you had a tank of this size, how would you stock it?

That is 56g? No. CL's are slow growers but get long. So 33" wont help you much. And with its being smaller you can either have a pair of smaller cichilds FM's Con's Geo's, 2x pair of apistos, , or maybe 1 nice mid sized, JD, Cuban, Grammodes, Salv Gt. Or possibly a female of the larger species but I'd shoot for a mid sized single fish. Or a nice pair of smaller ones. Depending on the aggression and it's decor you can then consider bottom dwells. It's hit or miss. I have a 110 cube which is 36x24x30 and It's got a single female red tiger mota in it, with a nice sized catfish which doesn't get picked on.

I agree. This isn't really a suitable tank for clowns. If you want some loaches, I'd go with a smaller species, like Zebra or Yoyo loaches. Quite fun to watch these, as well.
