So this Sunday I will be picking up a 340g tank.

I am starting to become a bit concerned with the stress this would be putting on my floor. Just the water alone will weigh 3000lbs. My unit only has my garage at ground level, and my living room (where I would like to put this tank) is on the second floor. In addition the tank will be placed perpendicular to the beams.

Should I be ok? Not sure if I am overthinking this or not. Looking for some personal experience here.

Unless it is a steel and concrete building, you will need some major reinforcements to have that on a second floor.

Well, here in Florida all buildings are brick and mortar. No wooden construction is allowed.

My building is made from cinder blocks.

Update: Seems as if my unit is full concrete.

Found mid construction pictures from the developers

I don't think you should take the chance.
It would be much safer to change the shipping address to my house.
:)

I will just need in addition to your address, full name, ssn, date of birth etc

;)

But in all seriousness, I should be fine considering my unit's construction correct?

If you know who the developers are, call them up and ask them who was the construction firm, the contractor. Then call the contractor up, tell them you want to talk to whoever the guy was who was in charge of the construction project. HE will know if the floor can support thousands of pounds of water from a tank or not.

If you call the building manager, or the people who have it now, they won't know and they'll give you the run around. And they'll tell you some BS about some policy they have, and some fine print in some lease agreement that doesn't really exist, and you'll end up in court.

Nah, talk to the job superintendent who was in charge of the actual building project. He'll tell you what's up. If he says it's OK, then just put your tank in and don't ask anyone for permission.

So--how do you plan to run a drip system? Hot water heater drain maybe?

So is there any personal experience here?

Im being told that hurricane code construction should support it.

Disco, who told you that? Have you tried what was suggested above? No offence, but it seems you're looking for an answer you want to hear that it's "fine" for your 3500+ lb. tank and no one here knows about your particular construction.
