Hello all.

I have a 35 gallon tank, I want to do a native Illinois tank, but I am not sure of what fishes will stay small enough for such a tiny setup.

Please advise,

Chris

Darters, etc. are very easy to catch...all you need is a nice clean stream with shallow pools, two nets, a bucket and flashlight. You have one spotter looking for the fish, then the other person collects the fish. Its very fun, never know what you will find. Be sure to lift the rocks nice and slow. When you find one, you may find an entire school. Just slowly put the net as close to the fish as possible and use your hand to gently nudge the fish to the net. Most of the time the swim right in the net and even your hand. Sometimes you need to make a path for them, otherwise they will go around the net. We found a bunch of darters, suckers, and 2 madtoms this weekend. This weekend I will try to film it so everyone can watch.

I unfortunately don't have any "clean" streams within an hours drive. It's sad, really. Being so close to Chicago, being Crook County, people just dump garbage in the water wherever they please, and this has effected almost all the creeks and streams coming from any substantial body of water. So really, unless I buy them online, darters are out of the question. And I really don't feel like buying them online since the shipping is usually insanely high.
If anybody feels like giving me any for free, I'll gladly take them! ;)
