I just received a quote from Tenecor for a 350 gallon tank (96"x36"x24") and they quoted $2700. This quote does not include shipping. Isn't this kind of high? Let me know what you think.

I received a price from a local fish store last week from a local pet store. It was for a 96"x30"x30" with center overflow, glass tank. It is approximately 375 gallons. The quote was $6,200 plus $500 shipping.

I don't really want to go with glasscages but if I can't find a used one I may have to.

Thats kind of the way I'm leaning. I'm talking with a friend about taking a UHaul up to glass cages and picking up a 300 gallon and a 240 gallon. There prices are hard to beat. I'm worried about a 300 glass tank weighing too much though. I heard they are like 600 pounds dry. That is tough to move. I'm also thinking about buying a few 55s with a built in divider to seperate some of my more agressive flowerhorns. I have eggcrate, but hate how it looks.

I am considering going there as well. I'm wondering if I go there if they can have the tank filled when I get there so I will know it doesn't leak before I take it. That would make me feel much more comfortable purchasing from them since they are so far away from me.

If I go there I am planning on getting their 340 gallon, I really like the dimensions of that tank.

If they are using 3/4" acrylic throughout and tank does NOT include overflow, special cutouts, etc., then this is a bit high, but not dramatically overpriced. Acrylic is cheap at the moment (they know this) and because of the economy, these guys need sales. I would negotiate. See if you can get free shipping and/or a few hundred bucks off the price of the tank. If you plan on adding substrate, point out that they can use blemished acrylic for the tank bottom. I bought a 96x30x30 from them when oil was at about $130.00 a barrel and I think you may have a bit of wiggle room. If you purchase from them, make sure that EVERY detail, no matter how trivial, is specified on the spec sheet that you will sign and fax to order the tank.

Go used man. Acrylic tanks are waaaay too much new. Or, build your own tank.

I wouldn't mind going used, but hard to find the large ones in my part of the country.

I was quoted under $2400 for the same size tank. With two overflows and including shipping to Colorado.

They did give me a 20% discount for being on MFK. I called them though.

BTW it's for 1/2" acrylic. The 30" high that I have decided to go with is 3/4".
