350gph canister

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it is very lightly stocked( with a few small fish.) you are turning the water over just over 4 times an hour. i would recomend more around 7 times an hour for a stocked cichlid tank.
you could make it work by adding a power head and a sponge filter

Howdy,

It's not all about gph ...

The Eheim 2028 is rated for 160 gal and offers 280 gph. Great filter.

Agreed, you also have to take into account what type of filtration the cannister offers and the amount of bypass on it. I have a Fluval 404 on my 110 which is by all accounts terribly overstocked but they all do fine with a bi-weekly gravel vac/water change and filter cleaning once every 6 months. . . depends on how well you keep your fish and how well planted it is.

I use XP3s on my 75s with no problem. Water in these tanks is always crystal clear. Like someone mentioned earlier, its not only the gph, but the gph and media area. I would take more media over more flow anyday. Anyways, 350gph is a mean current in a 75 gal.

canisters don't need to turn the water as much as hob's and still have the efficiency, the rule of thumb for hob's for a regularly stocked tank is 5x an hour, for canisters it depends ont he particular filter i guess, just go with what the filter is supposed to handle
