Picked up this guy today, listed as a 30" one. Bit of a surprise when I turned up. Luckily I can just about house it. Looks like an excuse to get a bigger tank!

But has anyone seen one this big?

The leg stands are two foot apart to show the size and the tub is 48". 8foot tank.

Yup...seen prob half a dozen that size or lager in person bigrich545 bigrich545 's . very personable. I agree hes pretty big for the tank. that can be fixed tho :). Congrats on a true monster cat pickup!

Nice.

It'd be nicer to see a shot with a tape measure next to the fish. Then there'd be no question. As is... I'm a bit dubious it is 3'.

What I am saying is 30" is not uncommon. 36" is very rare. So exact measure makes a lot of difference.

And BTW total length is measured to the base of the caudal fork, not the caudal tip... but I trust you know it.

... and therein may lie a difference of ~3" in such a large Leiarius pictus.

Regardless though, beautiful save. Kudos for yah. Since the large fish rescue caved in London a couple of years ago, maybe you will pick up the slack now ;) It's definitely much needed. Rescue is done for mammals and a bit for reptiles but ever so rarely for fish.

Measuring from the mouth to the end of the tail was 36.5. I doubt to think the length of her with the whiskers added. The tank is 38" wide, so I'm how currently in the hunt for a larger tank. Agreed with the above comments that she now needs a large enclosure. But it was a lot bigger then what she was housed in.
