i have some buenos aires and a single male firemouth, he wouldnt pair up so im scraping the breeding idea. what could i put in the to give as a fiend? he now runs like crazy being the only fish besides the school. my only thing is no convicts. any ideas?

im kinda wanting another cichlid if i could. as for the gold nugget def gonna get one for my bigger tank.

the nanoluteus is interesting, kind of like a yellow convict huh. what do u guys think of dwarf cichlids like cockatoos or agazizzi? would the firemouth just kill it? or a lfs has WC festivums, but those get 8" huh. id like to keep it SA/CA

sajica or a rainbow could work

Those dwarf cichlids could work. Depends on how aggressive your firemouth is.
IME NO to the festivum. My festivum is a total jerk as it attacks and dives at anything that comes into its water column and sometimes just rushes at another cichlid at the other side of the tank for whatever reason; leaves some pretty serious wounds too. Highly aggressive as opposed to the peaceful temperament they supposedly have. Of course it probably is just my festivum thats aggressive but I've read about others who have had an aggressive festivum.

I think you should go for the sajica that was mentioned. I have one in my tank and the firemouth and sajica never bother each other.

What about a T. Pasiones? I've always wanted to house a meeki and a pasiones in the same tank. Or blue acara maybe, good contrast in color schemes. Or sajica or cutteri should both work. Or if you get true HRP's it would be cool, they look a lot like the cons but iwith way better color and attitude's IMO. I have a breeding pair of them as we speak in my 36g bowfront. A single would go good with your FM. Its really up to you.
