[Progression (skip to second post for update)]
before anyone asks, here are the details of the tank
360gallon
6'x4'(wide)x2'
filtered by an eheim 2260
alright we'll start with the progression.

initially, the stocklist has more or less remained the same, which is
Gars
3x 23-25" cuban gar
2x 26" longnose gar
2x 12 & 21" florida gar
Tankmates
1x 25" african arowana
1x 17" P.b.lapradei
1x 8" P.motoro
2x 10" H.armatus
initial aquascape - 100kg of white pebbles
was too white and unnatural looking, so i added ~20kg brown pebbles
which still looked kind of cartoony, so i added another 80kg of various coloured rocks/pebbles
as the tank progressed, i felt the driftwood was too dynamic, and wanted to do something more lethargic/relaxed with it. plus, i started allowing natural sunlight into the tank, which really made the tank much more vibrant.

eventually, i found that the huge pieces of driftwood were really affecting my water hardness. which is when i removed them. i also reduced the stock to
Gars
3x 23-25" cuban gar
1x 26" longnose gar
1.21" florida gar
Tankmates
2x P.leopoldi
Denizens
2x 10" wc C.kelberi
the tank looked pretty bad, and actually up to this point, i haven't been completely happy with it yet. so i was pretty demoralised by this point.

I then removed most of the pebbles and added 20kg of coral sand in order to buffer the pH. i dont have any pictures of this phase, so a video will have to do.

1x 11" & 2x 23-25" cuban gar
