if there was a 360g 8x3x2 and its stock was

1 dovii
2 red devils
3 jack dempseys
3 green terrors
2 red bay snooks
3-5 oscars
MAYBE
1 umbee
1buttikefori

and varias FH would any of them cross breed? I dont have this tank (yet) but i was wondering if they would cross breed if they would cross breed even if they had some of there own kind

With that stock you would end up with either a Dovii or an Umbee. Way overstocked. Full grown Dovii or Umbee should have that to themselves. Buttikoferi are African and should be kept in a tank along with fish who live in similar water so I dont reccomend it. And the Flowerhorn question should be asked in the Hybrid section.

Tilapia buttikoferi is from west Africa, not the rift lakes, so isn't the pH level pretty close to CA?


I agree that the tank would end in disaster though.

It's all hypothetical. They might or might not hybridize. Either answer we tell you would merely be speculation at best.

With that many big fish in the tank, I doubt any of them would successfully breed. If you're wanting to experiment, I wouldn't just throw them all in one tank and see what comes out.
