u got gloves on this time!

Heck yea I do, after the flathead shredded my hands, I wear a glove for the pics and then take it off when I release and usually they are done by then so I put my hand back in their mouth, revive and letem go :)

cut, use the heads first

Have you ever tried live gills? I've heard big blues like live fish almost as much as flatheads do, but I have zero experience with either species. We pretty much only have channels and bullheads here (there are only like two lakes in CO that have blues and flatheads, and even then I think the channels average larger lol) plus I absolutely suck at catfishing.

I have but not a fan, Id rather use cut, more blood, etc. Also when I cut the heads I toss the body of the gill in the lake close to the bank to see if that helps with attracting them, not sure if it does but I do it. I hate to bobber fish, its annoying to get up and recast the bait cuz the bobber came in or floated somewhere its not supposed to be. Id rather toss some cut bait and leave it there in one spot for an hour or so, then if nothing, rebait and cast it again. Seems to works so far for me :)

If you ever try live bait bluegill clip half of the fin and a little piece of meat off the tail. It gives an erratic swimming pattern and leaves a blood trail.

What type of hooks and rigging methods do you use? When I target cats (usually unsuccessfully lol) I use circle hooks with a short leader (around 6-10") and a slip sinker rig. Maybe I should be rigging up different?

I use a 7/0 Octo hook with a 2 oz sinker, thats it, no leader.

Today I caught a monster, it was hot today so not much action. Got there at 6 and right at 9:15 the clicker went off and I got him. Pics in a few :)
