I am having a tank built or I am building my self. I still haven't figured it out which would be better ? I am leaning toward Acrylic but with that being said there are no Acrylic tank builders in Nova Scotia where I live, (that I have found yet). So I will have to build it.
The tank dimensions will be L,W,H 84"x 36"X30". I really like the idea of sumps and over flow boxes ?
IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO HAVE A SUMP AND OVER FLOW BOXES OR COULD I JUST USE A FX5 OR TWO ?
Bracing is that also a good idea ? PLEASE ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE A GREAT HELP AS THIS IS MY BABY AND FIRST BUILD !

ANYONE SUGGESTIONS OR HELP ON WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO GO ABOUT IT ?

You should probably brace the tank, as for the filters its all up to you really, id do 2 fx5's and a sump full of with bio-media, but thats just me.

Look into doing it out of plywood and line it with pond liner and fiberglas. Lookat this persons youtube videos. uarujoey , he as a six video series on how to build a 500gal tank

Yes I am familiar with Joey and recent along with other work he has done. He has a few different vids that I intend to utilize during my build.
Along with another guy on here Monster Peacock awesome tanks he built and I like how these guys are being extra safe and explaining things so well. :)

Here is some of my idea still trying to figure out the filtration on this beast. ? any suggestions ? what would be best ? Also side window is still a question and I know those look like bricks but not sure if that is what I will use or not... HELP WITH SUGGESTIONS PLEASE :)

You could filter it with 50 HOBs if you like, as long as it has enough turn over and media it doesn't matter if its in a sump, canister or what. However, with a tank that size IMO a sump will be easier to clean/maintain, provide better gas exchange, and give you somewhere to put the heaters to make the tank look cleaner. They're not for everyone, and if you're not interested in researching and learning how to build one ideally suited to your needs then the canisters may be the way to go.

I like the sump Idea and it sounds more efficient than running 2 or 3 FX5`s :) can anyone on here tell me exactly what should be ran for filtration on this kind and size tank ?
