Anyone out there with a tank of 44-48 inches tall with a 3D back ground, or know who builds them custom made to fit (in sections maybe)

i know how to build a 3d background for say a reptile cage or Poison dart frog terrarium, You could probably make a DIY just buy some of the material they make them with.

Yes, there are tons of DIY things i wish I could do, including a drip system, but I don't possess the skills, an lately the time.

I believe designa by nature makes exactly what you're looking for.
Tried them and he said he could not do it either, (not that large) I am starting to feel I have the crud or something, as soon as I say the tank is 44in tall and 120in long, no one wants to touch it. Well one company did say around 7K:ROFL:, what a joke when a 72in in lenght and 24 height was 300 dollars really.. So an extra 6.7K for 4 more inches in length and 20 inches of height. :screwy:
I thought it was all custom made anyway and they could just puzzle pieces together to make the size and I could just connect the parts and silcone them in, but that must be easier said thatn done. Still looking though..

hahaha.....I'd build you one for cheaper than that.

If you were close to me, I'd help you build one for beers while I work.

Honestly, I think your only "non super expensive custom" option is going to be to make it yourself.

Get yourself some styrofoam sheets, GE silicone (the non anti fungal one), Drylok (the cheap non anti fungal one), and Quickcrete Concrete Dye (all available at Lowes or Home Depot) and have at it with a knife, jig saw, wire brush, or whatever your weapon of choice is.

It took me 2 weekends to do mine (with yardwork and house work done on the weekends as well). Just take your time, and do work as you have time.

So when the last time you've been to Disney world. Sounds like you need a vacation.... ha,ha,ha

Do you have pictures of your tank set-up?

Here's some in process pics. it's all together now, but I have no pics. I might try to put some up once everything settles down in the tank (new fish are a bit stressed from their recent trip).

Before it was coated:

Wow. that's pretty nice, I can only imagine the look with the paint completed. Very impressive!

LOL, well I'm sorry you're having trouble finding that size BG, it certainly is a very large tank. :)

Here is my 125 with a DBN background and rocks:

You could definitely rig something up from whatever company you choose with smaller pieces, the tricky part will be disguising the seams. Maybe you could glue bits of moss or plants to the seams, or use clever aquascaping. In this tank I have an ugly seam in the left corner where the "stump" is (and a bunch of equipment back there too! :)):

Feel free to PM me, I could ask some friends with 3D backgrounds and maybe we could come up with some other ideas. DIY is great but I have NO artistic talent as far as that goes, and maybe 1 out of 20 tanks I see with DIY BGs look as good as a good premade one (definitely seen one or two amazing DIY ones though!).
