So I know thousands of people make 3d backgrounds for their fresh water tanks, but what about doing it for saltwater? What would I use to seal the concrete or would there be a different way to make it? What would I use to get some color on it? What about resin? Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a reason you want to seal the concrete? I have not made a "background" for saltwater tank, but have used cement to make "live" rock just so I can get the shapes I want and save hundreds of dollars. Using cement is pleanty safe and does not need sealed. The key is being willing to wait 6-12 weeks with your cement background curing in water. The cement causes PH to skyrocket but after several weeks will get down the the 8.0 range which is pretty much where you would want to be for saltwater anyway.

that was why I was thinking about sealing... also so I can paint it.
