Hey all. Not sure if a 265 is considered a monster tank, but my wife considers it to be a swimming pool ;)

I am having some struggles trying to find a 3d background that is 30" tall. I dont want to make my own, as I know that is a trainwreck in the making! I am looking at the various "slim" backgrounds, but am having a time finding one tall enough. Any one on here manage to overcome this?

srry idk but i did see some long time ago forgot the site but they are not cheap for my 125 i saw a back round in theink they wanted like 300$-500$ range but gl man

something you could try is a painted background. I did the back of my sw tank in blue metallic flake spray paint. I think it looks good. i know others use black for the back ground because it shows the fish off better. And if you have black substrate and black background. It sets the fish off and makes them seem exceptionally vibrant.
Good Luck

I am starting to think that a quick and dirty black paint job on the outside of the back of the tank might work out just fine. And would only cost about 5 bucks:nilly:

Every time you look at that black painted background, you're gonna be reminded of how you really wanted a 3d background. I say make one yourself.

Paint is cheap and easy but tough to remove if you don't like it after awhile.
There are a number of tank backgrounds that would simulate the look relatively cheaply. I would recommend using "Sea View " background adhesive. This makes the colors jump out. It applys like window tint and is easily removed if your tastes change.
I may do a 3D background eventually , but I just don't know yet what I want to see.
In the mean time a quality background and "Sea View" is an acceptable alternative

you can make a cool DIY rock background with just some foam and cement ect. google DIY background and im sure you can find different styles but ususally they are made in 3 different pieces in a puzzle locking fashion.

here i found a descent link i believe http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=99515
