I am getting a new tank soon, i was thinking of buying or making a 3d background.

I have one in my 60G tank and i like it... I think with 3D backgrounds a lot of it comes down to how much space you want to give up, and the type of look and feel you're going for

I was more worried about how long they last.
I was going to for a 6x2x2 with a pair of jags in it. I thought i would like to make a nice looking tank.

I have Designs By Nature backgrounds that still look brand new after 3 years of continuous use.

Same here and I have put mine through all kinds of crap too. Plecos, rays, flagtails, tank moves, shop light algae etc...
