I recently bought a 3D background that is 1/2in think from Universal Backgrounds. When you use these backgrounds, how much of a gap is there between the background and the glass? I just received my background for my 180g. They rolled it up for shipping so its a pain to try and get it straight flat against the glass. Plus its slightly too big by like 1/8in or so unless I cut it (doubtful) I am sure it won't sit perfectly against the glass. Looking from the front you cannot really tell but I am not sure if there will be issues related to stagnant water sitting behind it.

Also, they forgot to send me the clips which they are going to. No idea how well these work but I have a feeling they only secure the top which means I will still have this problem with the bottom. Was thinking of just sticking some heavy rocks in front of the background.

I would definitely cut it. You want it to be flushed up against the glass. Water can and will stagnate in any gaps. There is also a strong possibility that food will make its way back behind it and rot. You should check out the stocky on 3D backgrounds. I have only installed the hard variety, but I'm pretty sure the sticky references the sort you have. Good luck!
