I think I may have done a terrible thing. I ordered..
(4x) 3" baby blacks
(2x) 1"Cichla Orinos. Will they get along in a big tank? I already have in my tank are...
(2x) 2" Silver Dollars
(1x) 6.5" Flagtail.

I'm just hoping that this will work out good.

It will arrive within a couple days. I didn't even think about them getting along what not. But if they do, I only plan on keeping them all in there until they need a larger tank, than I will separte them if I have to. I just wouldn't like them to get all tore up.

I would think that the orinos may fight the blacks

The orinos are probably small enough for now, there may be problems later. Likely the problem will be with the aros themselves. I tried putting 5 baby blacks into a 55g, one was deformed and only had one eye and it was killed after a few days. The other four started showing split fins so they have since been separated. I have a pair in a 55g that each keep to their own side of the tank and do not fight. The other two are in a divided 55g tank, one is very aggressive and torments the other if they are kept together.

Hopefully you'll luck out and they will co exist, how big is your tank? You can provide a lot of floating plastic plants to provide some cover and visual boundaries, it may help.

As far as the SDs and flagtail, can't really say but it is recommend that baby aros are kept without tank mates until they are 5 to 6 inches.

Good luck.

180gal bare tank.

IMO thats too big to keep baby aro's in at that size.

As I would normally agree with this statement, with my recent experience I would now say this may be what is needed in order to keep fighting from happening.

What type filtration do you have on your 180g tank?

I have a 40gal wet dry that pumps 1200gal per hr. Holds about 20-25+ gal of bio ball and sponge scrubbies.

I was thinking that in a large tank like this they would be happier for some reason and not want to fight.

Sounds good, just make sure there is no way they can get sucked into the overflow. I'm just running spong filters for now.
