A few weeks ago I caught a Pumpkinseed that put in my 18 gallon aquarium. He seems to be doing fine and is eating worms I dig up. I intend on getting a bigger aquarium for him (75gal), but I need to know if it okay to keep him in his existing tank for a few months until I do so, or should I go out and buy a kiddie pool or something for him to live in for a while?

While its definitely not ideal, you could probably get away with it for a while with sufficient filtration and water changes.

Moved to North American Natives.

Thank you. I will be moving him to a 55 gallon within a week or two.

Just earthworms and the occasional mealworm.

you can vary his diet to make them healthy and bring out their colors, they'll eat crickets, scuds, minnows etc; but I would try to pellet train him as soon as you can.

Add some feeder snails and some veggie matter to his diet.

Thanks, would cichlid pellets work, or something else?

I fed my Northern Sunfish cichlid pellets with no problems
