i NEED HELP MAKING A DECISION FOR MY NEW TANK, which should i get i like both but don't know what would be a better showcase for my 55gal
-----get as many aces as you can up to about 6-8 if there small like 2-4''. And then you will have about 1-1.5 years before you need a upgraded tank size depending on how many you get. And a group no smaller than 3. The more you get the better there chance is. They are a fragile fish until you get them acclimated fully to there new tank. I have owned 6 now and the first 4 were singles and never made it past the fin rot. Which they are highly able to get from stress. Actually I have never had a red that did not get tail rot. All the research I have done on them says that as soon as you see the tail get white frayed edges you must medicate quickly. I have seen there tails completely rot off and die in a few hours 8-10. So be preparred with fungus and antibiotic meds. The 2 reds I have now completely lost there tail and with jungle labs fungus tabs and maracyn and maracyn2 treatment they grew back in 3 weeks. And are now doing great. So basically they are a tuff fish to keep at first but once they get settled in they hardly ever get sick again. ALso the tank must be fully cycled for successs they do not tolerate ammonia at all Check out water wolves . com they have a very informal article on aces.
