Hi I'm new to RBP and how to care for them.I have a couple questions and would appreciate all answers. How often should i feed them, what should i feed them for optimal growth, color, and health?please help!!

I am assuming you have piranhas because you posted in Piranha forum.
How large are they? When they are little they eat quite a bit, when mine were little I would feed them little bits of food 3-4 times a day. They grow very fast until they hit 5-6" Mine grew from a quarter size to 5" in 3 months.

I feel like a scrooge for saying this but I wish people would do this research before investing in any type of pet. The answer to this question is all over the forum and the internet. But regardless,

If they're babies, they eat alot so pretty much overfeed them but take out left over food. Bloodworm cubes, krill cubes are typically their favorite at that size. Blackworm is also good if you have that available. You can also mix in cut up shrimp and fish (talipia is the cheapest) that you yourself would consume from the grocery store. Just freeze to kill off parasites. When they're small you can also feed them regular tropical flakes (it's fun to see them rise to the top of the tank to eat their food) and mini pellets. When they get bigger you're gonna want to stick to some type of varity that can include fish, shrimp, pellets, earth worm, silversides (a frozen fish sold at pet stores). I'm sure there a few things i've left out but fish, shrimp and pellets should probably be your staple.

I toss in vegetable matter for my pleco and sure enough, the piranhas eat that too.

Usually feed Piranha 2-4 times a day .. any less and you risk them biting each others fins or body

Btw .. its illegal to have Piranha in California so you should quietly do your research instead of letting the world know you got illegal fish

How long you had them? Any tank decor? Any pics? Do you use a powerhead? Lights?

Hey guys..Once again, i have three red bellies.I notice about 4 or 5 days ago that one of them had a semi dark spot on his top fin and overall had a dark skin tone to him. and today it looks like he has a bad case of ich! Both his eyes are almost covered in white and all his skin is very dark..Ive been using ICH for the past two days and haven't really seen any improvement yet. Any thoughts to what else it could be and what other treatments I can do..I keep the tank very clean (90 gallon canister)for 35 gallon tank...and feed regulary.

Do you have pics you can show us? Water Params? Current Temperature?

The tempeture is curently 82 F. Its a 30 gallon tank with a 60-90 gallon canister filter. Yesterday afternoon I took out the carbon filter and bought a pack of anti-bacterial fish medication that was recommended from my local fish store called "Triple Sulfa" (Sodium Sulfathiazole). It says to treat for 3 days or longer if needed. Is this the best treatment??
