i cleaned my tank out and it was very murky, so i put water cleaner in, now i used this stuff all the time but i ran out and had to buy a diffrent brand, so i went to bed and woke up to find my blood parrot dead, my last balck skrit tetra dead, my pleco dead, and my gorumi dead (sorry if i splet anything wrong) plus my rainbow shark gaspping for air! i toke 60% of the water out and changed the fliter. what else do i need to do??? also will this affect my convict eggs?

did you dechlorinate?
probably the drastic ph/temp changes upset ur fish.
get an airstone in there asap. switch off the lights too...

What were your water parameters?

Yes, it might effect your convict eggs. Whatever killed your fish might effect the eggs, or the stress of large water changes may cause your convicts to abandon them. They might be ok, you won't know until either they start turning white or they hatch.

It might have been the water change. Did you adjust the pH? Also, if you change more than 50% of the water at a time, this will stress out the fish. That happened to me once. I changed 75% of the water, and woke up the next morning to find one of my fish dead, and the others were going crazy! The problem may also be chloramine(not chlorine). If the new brand that you bought didn't say it filtered out chloramine, that could be the reason.

IMO, if there is a relatively big difference between tap and tank water parameters then big water changes can cause problems like this.
If, however, they are pretty much the same, specifically pH and KH, and you do regular water changes as a routine to keep your nitrAtes down, then large water changes shouldn't have a detrimental effect.

I had the same thing happen one time. I mixed two different dechlorinators without thinking about it. The next morning all my fish were at the top gasping. I did an immediate 90% water change and everything seemed ok. I only lost one fish out of the whole thing. I make sure to never mix different brands of any chemicals now. Just as a precaution.
